    Pilates Reformer

The Pilates Reformer is by far the most commonly known piece of Pilates equipment. It is is often referred to as a “torture device”; some folks have even said it sounds like something out of the Spanish Inquisition… It’s nothing quite so frightening. It does, however, make a tremendous impact both on your body and your life. In fact, once you’ve been on it you’re not likely to imagine your workout with out it!

The Pilates Reformer is a partner and a coach. It helps you get to places you didn’t know you could get and strengthen parts you didn’t know you had. From standing to sitting to lying down, the Pilates Reformer offers students a way of deepening and expanding their practice, of taking it to new levels.

The Pilates Reformer helps inform subtle movements and postural patterns as well as increase the intensity of any given exercise…you’ve ever done! It is a teacher in and of itself, allowing you to explore and learn in remarkable ways. We like to think it adds a third dimension to your experience of your body. And that’s a BIG DEAL!

    Pilates Reformer Class Offerings:

We currently have several options for working on the Pilates Reformer -

Equipment Trios: Experience work on the Pilates Reformer as a part of a larger class repertoire.

Reformer Trios: We currently offer a handful of Reformer only Trios. We are working on expanding our Reformer only class schedule greatly in the summer of 2012 with the addition of three new Balanced Body Allegro 2 Reformers!

Private Sessions: The Pilates Reformer is one of the primary pieces of equipment that any private or duet student will be exposed to as an integral part of their practice. It’s also a great way to build a foundation for Reformer Trio Classes.

Self-practice: We encourage all of our students to “own” their Pilates work, which means that we help them create and prepare for an in-studio self-directed practice if they choose that form of practice. Self-practice students will learn how to:

    - Safely change and arrange Pilates Reformers
    - Identify appropriate and safe resistances
    - Practice and execute a level-appropriate Pilates Reformer workout (among other pieces of equipment).
